On March 3, 2021, a roundtable discussion was held with stakeholders to discuss educational programs in the specialty 281 “Public Management and Administration”. The moderator was Anna Chechel, Doctor of Science in Economics, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Public Administration.

Svitlana Marova, Rector of DSUM, Full Professor, Doctor of Science in Public Administration, welcomed the participants of the round table:

“The involvement of stakeholders in the development and updating of educational programs will help to ensure the quality of educational activities and the quality of education in the Donetsk State University of Management.”

Discussion of ways to improve the master’s degree program “Public Management and Administration” (the guarantor of the program – Denys Tarasenko, Professor of the Department of Public Administration, Doctor of Science in Economics)

Presentation of the newly developed master’s educational and professional program “Management of Territorial Community” (the guarantor of the program – Valentyna Nykolaieva, PhD in Pedagogic Sciences, Associate Professor of Sociology of Management, PhD student of the specialty 281 “Public Management and Administration”).

Valuable suggestions and recommendations were offered by Nina Didenko, Doctor of Science in Public Administration, Professor of the Department of Public Administration: “For local governments need to understand the universal design within the territorial social development of communities, the organization of non-formal learning”.

The invited stakeholders asked questions about the implementation of individual competencies in the educational programs, taking into account the observance of security measures in the Donetsk region and the need to include a sociological component.

Taking into account modern challenges and trends, most employers noted the need to develop special (professional) competencies aimed at the ability of strategic planning and thinking, communication methods of dialogue, increasing managerial culture, emotional-volitional stress tolerance, as well as emphasized the optimal combination of theoretical and practical training, and others.

The substantive proposals, recommendations from the participants of the round table will serve as a basis for improving the content of educational programs and the quality of training of higher education applicants and contribute to increasing the transparency, predictability, validity of the components of educational programs in the specialty “Public Management and Administration”.

Particular attention was paid to the content of the training results of the proposed programs. At the end it was decided to hold such meetings in different formats: focus groups, trainings, seminars and the like.
